In this class girls can explore all that it means to be a girl: to laugh and cry with friends, to enjoy the freedom of being herself, to uncover her true potential. Yoga allows girls to enjoy being girls, together.

Girl Time Yoga provides an opportunity for pre-teen girls to discuss what matters most to them. Through the practice of yoga poses, relaxation and meditation, girls develop physical strength and stamina, greater emotional stability and a strong sense of self.

Yoga is a practice of introspection and self discovery that leads to positive body image, self love and a can-do attitude. It allows girls to develop a better understanding of what it means to be a young woman, to be self-sure and confident of her power to positively affect the world.

Each session focuses on a theme, such as peace, compassion, respect and healthy living. Girls are encouraged to share their ideas and ideals, and support each other as they learn and grow.  In this way girls enjoy a sense of accomplishment and progression as they explore ideas related to a positive, healthy lifestyle.

All of our sessions are appropriate for children who are new to Yoga, as well as for those who are continuing their instruction.  Class size limited to 8 for personal attention.

Cost:  $150 for 10 classes or $20 for drop in fee

How to prepare for your yoga class:

Above all, please respect the studio as a sacred space. This is both for your benefit and the benefit of others.

  • Be early to class.
  • If you have a health issue (pregnancy, illness, injury or medical condition), please notify your instructor before class. Not every pose is appropriate for everyone.
  • We are a hands on studio, if your prefer not to be adjusted physically please let your teacher know before class.
  • Please stay for the entire class.
  • Come to practice with an empty stomach (unless a specific condition prevents this).
  • Try letting go of the competitive mindset. Yoga is noncompetitive. Yoga is not just a workout, or techniques for relaxation. The purpose of yoga is to calm the mind, open the heart and stimulate your spiritual evolution.
  • Teens ages 14 and up are always welcome in any of our yoga classes.
  • No cell phones are permitted anywhere in the studio space.

Finally, most classes finish with a gesture and saying “Namaste.” This means: I honor the place in you which is of love, of truth, of light, and of peace. When you are in that place in you and I am in that place in me, we are one. Namaste!

At Yoga for You, I found what I was looking for. When I look for a teacher, I look for someone who has my best interests at heart and who takes into consideration my physical abilities and potential. When I look inward, I need a guide who has been there themselves to help navigate the way. When I look for a group class or private session, I seek a peaceful and safe environment where I am accepted as I am. The space where I practice is important, too.  -Cindy Ascanio, RYT 200

I started taking Susan's yoga class approximately one year ago, and am thrilled with every aspect of Susan's classes. She is knowledgeable, well prepared for every class, and makes all of her students feel welcome and special through her kind and gentle ways. I have tried other yoga classes and have found them to be lacking when compared to classes at Yoga for You. I wish Susan continued success as she shares her knowledge of yoga and joy of life with her students.   -Ann Gates

About Shambhava Yoga

The practice of Shambhava Yoga™ Asana begins with a strong foundation in body awareness and alignment, then moves deeper, allowing you to explore your own personal experience of yoga through inner focus and surrender. Creative hatha and vinyasa approaches make this practice available for beginning through advanced level classes.

Shambhava Yoga Asana is taught from the heart, not the head. Teachers respond to the energy of the class through intuition, intelligent sequencing, and depth of practice. Our room-temp classes incorporate props and modifications with the goal of making yoga rewarding for everyone.

We believe that the ultimate purpose of asana is to cultivate a meditative state; to guide you inside where your potential awaits.
